While trenches were being dug in Sur and barricades were built in Cizre, Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Co-Chair Selahattin Demirtaş was silent.
He was in the US for a while.
He returned, and started to talk.
“This resilience will win," he said.
What is the resilience he is talking about?
Two hundred thousand Kurds abandoned their homes in Sur, Cizre, Nusaybin and Silopi. The shops are closed down, and the tradesmen have gone bankrupt. The region, which had peace flourishing six months ago, now resembles Lebanon and Syria.
Selahattin Demirtaş showed up between October 6-8 and called for the people to take to the streets.
I am talking about the incidents in which 53 people, including Yasin Börü, were brutally slaughtered.
A person who made a call for people to take the streets and is responsible for the deaths of 53 people would normally not be able to go out in public, however, in our country, that man was given a musical instrument and made to sing a folk song.
He didn't, for once, call for the ditches to be covered closed up or the barricades to be removed. Yet, he can say, “The public is determined. Even if they burn the city down, or kill us all, we will not close the ditches." Cemil Bayık says the same thing, “The ditches are the PKK's new position." Is there a difference between the discourse of the director of the PKK in Qandil, Cemil Bayık, and that of the HDP leader, in Ankara, Demirtaş?
Aren't those who abandoned their homes, with a few pieces of belongings, the people? Aren't they Kurdish?
I am not telling Demirtaş to carry the 13 percent vote he gained in the name of becoming Turkification. I won't say that the ditch politics he adopted is narrowing his field and abolishing the democratic political base. Nor will I remind him of the statements he made on devaluing the reconciliation process.
Demirtaş should make up his mind.
Will he do politics, or will he be an inciter of terrorism? Will he be Selahattin Demirtaş, the HDP co-chair, or will he go next to Nurettin Demirtaş in Qandil?
The Ankara attacks happened. While the lifeless bodies lay in front of the Ankara Train Station, Demirtaş came out and said, “ Murderer government." Tahir Elçi was killed in front of the four-legged minaret in Diyarbakır. Before Elçi's blood was cleaned from off the ground, Demirtaş came out and said, “The bullet that killed Tahir Elçi belonged to the police."
Has Demirtaş adopted an attitude against the ditch politics that started since Bayık, on July 20, called out for the ditches to be dug and the street war to start? Quite the contrary. He left becoming Turkified, and became spokesperson for ditch politics.
Demirtaş announced that very important decisions would be made on December 26. What will they do? The number of deaths as exceeded 500. Our cities resemble war scenes. Will he say the solution is politics not arms? Quite the contrary. He is saying, “Important decisions will be made about self-government and self-rule."
This isn't the first time such decisions have been made.
On July 14 the DTK had declared a “democratic self-rule."
The day Aysel Tuğluk made this declaration, 13 of our soldiers were killed in Silvan.
What was the result? Bloodshed.
A new phase was entered with Bayık instructing for “city wars" to start. Murat Karayılan describes this new phase as “civil war."
Karayılan announced 2012 as the “final year." What happened? They were defeated. The same will happen this time, too.
Yet, the strategy is different this time.
There are different reasons behind Qandil pressing the button for “city wars" to start.
The PKK is carrying out the urban warfare strategy in Lice, Silvan, Varto, Kulp, Doğubayazıt, Yüksekova, Cizre, Silopi, Nusaybin, Dargeçit and Sur.
Since it isn't in intense fighting in Syria and Iraq, what will it do? It will focus its attention on these towns.
What is the PKK doing? It is only directing these conflicts and supporting the staff.
It is estimated that the hard core initiating the ditch and barricade war is made up of 300 people, 200 of them from Turkey's mountain cadre, and 100 of them brought in from Kobani. The PKK attacked Şırnak and Cizre with 300 to 400 people in 1992. This time it can attack more powerfully.
Yet, support isn't coming in from Kobani or any other camps outside of Turkey. Leaving those in Qandil aside, there are 7,000-8,000 PKK militants in the Democratic Union Party (PYD). These are militants who have gained experience in street wars.
Qandil is saying continue the war, but it isn't sending support.
The statement, “You are going to die anyway, so you might as well go and detonate yourself and be worth a damn," is really important.
Before the operations started in Sur, Cizre and Silopi, back-door diplomacy was run, so the ringleaders would be handed over and the others would leave the city. They said, “We will fight to the end." Therefore, a big operation was initiated yesterday. It was evident that Qandil, which pressed the button for the street wars to start, won a tender.
While the US and Russia reshape Iraq and Syria, the PKK was tasked with keeping Turkey busy.
Öcalan said, “The president of a big country told me to keep Turkey busy when I founded the PKK," referring to Hafız Assad, then-president of Syria.
Qandil was tasked to keep Turkey busy. The aim is to keep Turkey away from the table on which Syria and Iraq will be reshaped. In exchange, when the Syrian table is set, they will make room for the PYD. If you believe that this is only conducted by Russia and Iran, you are wrong. The US's attitude in this sense isn't reassuring either.
This cooperation is revealed by the meeting between US President Barack Obama and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and US Vice President Joe Biden's statements.
When we showed Jarabulus on the map of Syria to Putin in Antalya, he said, “The Americans are planning to give Jarabulus to the Kurds."
While Qandil is actualizing its engaging Turkey task, it has prepared to sacrifice the Patriotic Revolutionary Youth Movement (YDG-H) by sending them to the city wars. Qandil sent these militants to die.
They will continue to instruct them: “Do not surrender, blow yourself up if needed."
Not only the YDG-H, but all of the PKK's components will take action to suffocate Turkey.
So what is Demirtaş's role here?
What did Öcalan say? “I am the product of this land, but Selahattin is an international project!"
Whose project is Demirtaş?
Isn't it weird that he calls for resistance every time he comes from the US?
Demirtaş adds Russia to the US portfolio.
Who can hold Selo (Selahattin) back, on his return from Russia...
